Hark the Herald Angels Sing

作品簡介

這首廣受基督徒所喜愛，並且橫跨聖俗普受歡迎的耶誕歌曲「Hark！The Herald Angels Sing」，作者查理衛斯理〈Charles Wesley, 1708-1788〉是衛理公會〈或稱循道會〉的創立人，一生寫了六千多首的聖詩，這首可說是其作品之中最為流傳的代表作。

這首描述天使傳報基督耶穌降生大喜訊息的詩歌，發表於1739年，之後它並沒有固定的曲調，直到1855年，經由Dr.Cunmmings從德國有名的音樂家孟德爾頌之作品Festgesang 中，摘用其中的一段作為該詩曲調，後來的人才有了比較統一的唱法。因此目前所採用的通用調便稱為“孟德爾頌〈Mendelssohn〉”了。這首詩歌中譯名「新生王歌」，但另有數個不同中譯版本。
